How To Remove The Background In Inkscape

  1. #1

    hi,

I have a picture of two cats playing. I have removed/cut out the cats from the photograph (using bezier curves and selecting both objects and using cutting set) but in that location is an surface area betwixt the cats that show the groundwork of the original photo.

I want to go on the cats and remove this background from the already cut out cats. And so basically I would like to know how to remove, to make a transparent pigsty, an irregular region on a photo by selecting the area with the bezier curve tool or some other method.

I tried selecting the region and so practise decrease - no good

I tried selecting the region and and so all the clip options one at a time of course - no adept

I tried selecting the region and then all the mark options one at a time of course - no good

I go on getting the Bezier curve option or blank. at that place are alots of how to the cut the cats out but nothing to cut out the selected region to transparent and continue the rest.

I´s use an epitome editor like GIMP for that purpose; select for colour value - delete - export - done

I tried gimp confusing. I tried it but information technology was blotchy and deletes other parts that I do not desire. The area is not a pure colour since it is a photo. not a polygon of objects.with single color and then I don't know how to practice it. so you lot know of a good tutorial?

Saw an inkscape tutorial for a cat in the hat on youtube and then tried it It worked to cut out the true cat merely cant detect a way to do what I want with the area within my cutting out.

Can we accept an example image to work on, to arrive more practical?

ok here it is. Ideally areas like the Yellow, blueish or dark-green to exist transparent I can cut out the cats but stuck on the holes.

    thanks. lamentable

Employ the pen tool [p] to describe an outline around the areas to exist retained. Select these outlines and [Path > Wedlock] to create a single mask shape. Draw a rectangle over the unabridged picture. Select the rectangle and the mask then [Path > Divergence]. You should meet a rectangle with holes around your cats. Select the rectangle and your picture so [Object > Clip] to hide the unwanted parts of the image. Use the node tool [north] to adjust the clipping path.

I´d utilise a dedicated image editor to become rid of the background - either manually selecting:

Or machine learning background removal tools which do within the blink of an centre:

No refinement applied for the sake of file size.

This is what I did post-obit Paddy_CAD instructions:

    step i cats_01

    setp two cats_02

    Step three cats_03 nothing happening...

sad but I am surely doing something wrong cause I get a cut out of the areas that meant to be clear/transparent.

    Cats 03

    Cats 02

    Cats 01

what programme did you employ Polygon?

    Photoshop? Gimp?

It´s an macOS only app. I don´t know any equivalents to Window/Linux.

Yous can´t use Boolean operation with a combo of vector and raster images.

You can employ Object->Clip->Set up but demand a "frame" combined to your shapes in social club to clip the holes aways - Clip invert never worked for me though it´s its entention to do so I guess. Paddy_CAD had the instruction laid out in his reply#6 already.

The final clip path is a shape with holes to reveal the content beneath. Apply the node tool to modify the prune path. Precision is limited simply by the time spent editing nodes.
